Viva Magazine article

Viva Magazine article

Editorial Illustration

For this briefing, I was asked to create an illustration for an article about Viva Magazine. The article talked about this magazine from the 70's, which was made for the female gaze. I had to create some small thumbnails based on what I read. With the client, we decided on the best creative direction to follow. I made two rounds of sketches, and we chose a version that better illustrates the female gaze.

Sketches vs. Final version

Based on the chosen creative direction, I did some more detailed sketches. Below you'll find the two sketches, and the second one was the chosen one, because it filled more of the space and gave a better idea of imagination and dreams, just because the men were in more sensual poses.

For the final illustration, I decided to go with different shades of red because it gave a better idea of voyeurism. The blue helps to create a counterpoint in the painting.
