Editorial Illustration: Cover and Spots
This illustration was an assignment for Grace Helmer's course at LABASAD - a speculative project for The Reader Magazine. The briefing for the cover asked for a cozy illustration in an autumn edition. The main focus for the cover should be on reading indoors. I did three sketches for each illustration theme, totaling twelve illustrations sent to the 'client'. These were the chosen ones. I worked with Procreate on each one of these illustrations :)
As for the spot illustrations, in the magazine's internal area, I should focus on a flexibility to be scaled either bigger or smaller, to allow for a variety of layouts, different color backgrounds, as they would use these in a few other issues. These illustrations should bring diverse people and diverse compositions. That's why I chose to do a black and white illustration with a pop of color, so if used in another edition, they could change this color to one that better suits the new edition.
