For the module ‘The Business of Illustration: Portfolios’ at the LABASAD course that I’m taking, Grace Helmer gave us a task to make something that could fill the gap in our portfolios. As my goal is to do illustrations for children’s books, I chose to make this artwork.
The process
As you can see below, I first painted a gold lettering in this piece, but after some feedback from Grace, I decided to take her suggestion and change the process for the title and author name. I painted them separately in gouache on a new piece of paper, scanned it and chose the color that best suited this piece!
